Sumner Getchell (20 October, 1906 – 21 September, 1990), was an American film actor. He appeared in 65 films between 1926 and 1953.

He was born in Oakland, California and died in Sebastopol, California. Known to his close friends as "Cudge," he married Alberta, and lived in the Los Angeles area for many years. In the early 1970s the happy, upbeat couple retired from Hollywood, bought a Christmas tree farm with old growth redwoods in the Sebastopol/Santa Rosa area of northern California, and had a lovely home built thereon. They graced their visiting friends with produce from their hydroponic farm, much of which was turned into fresh juice beverages with their favorite appliance: a big industrial-strength juicer.

Alberta survived Sumner's passing by several years.
