Centre Rockland

Centre Rockland

Centre Rockland, in Mount Royal, is an upscale mall located at the intersection of the Metropolitan Boulevard and rue L'Acadie. The mall is owned and operated by the shopping centre development company Ivanhoe Cambridge, which is a principal real estate subsidiary of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. The mall features three floors of shopping space and has a glass elevator.

When Centre Rockland first opened in 1959, it had only one floor, except for a Morgan's store. Centre Rockland was built on what used to be a golf course. In early 1980s, the mall went to what could be the biggest renovations in its history when a second floor, a multi-level parking lot and a Eaton's store were added.

The food court has recently been re-located to the top floor where Eaton's used to be; it now sports a retro theme and has many new food outlets. The main floor features such shops as The Bay and Birks. It once housed a Holt Renfrew store that has since closed as well as a Steinberg supermarket which eventually became Metro, but closed also.

As of 2006, the mall has undergone extensive renovations and now is home to two H&M stores, StyleXChange, Diesel, Rudsak, Harry Rosen, Buffalo, Le Chateau, Benetton, Zara, Mexx, Guess and many more. Also, the Sports Experts store was moved in 2007 from its location on the main floor to the now vacant food court area at the underground level. It has expanded to hold both 'Atmosphere' and 'Hockey Experts' sub-franchises and is now the biggest Sports Experts store in Canada.
