USS Stockham

USS Stockham

Two ships of the United States Navy have been named in honor of Marine Gunnery Sergeant Fred W. Stockham (1881–1918), who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism during the World War I Battle of Belleau Wood.

* USS "Stockham" (DD-683) was a "Fletcher"-class destroyer, launched in 1943 and struck in 1974.

* USNS "GYSGT Fred W. Stockham" (T-AK-3017) is a "1ST LT. Harry L. Martin"-class container & roll-on roll-off ship, built as MV "Lica Maersk" in Denmark, and delivered for commercial service circa 1980. She was acquired by the Navy in 1997 and placed in service under the Military Sealift Command (MSC) as USNS "Soderman" (T-AKR-299). She was renamed USNS "GYSGT Fred W. Stockham" (T-AK-3017) in 2001. Ship fate box active in service.
