- Artcraft Theatre
The Artcraft Theatre is a classic movie theater in downtown
Franklin, Indiana . It was built in 1922 in anArt Deco style, and was used forvaudeville and silent movies. The theater was one of the first in the area to feature cool air due to the swamp cooler installed. ["Preserving Indiana", Fall/Winter 2006, pg 4]The Artcraft is currently owned by Franklin Heritage, Inc, a non-profit that restores historic houses in Franklin. "Classic" movies are shown during weekends, and proceeds are used to restore the theater. The theater has also been host to parties, concerts, foreign films, and a
