Amora FC in Portugal at the age of 6. At age 13, Teixeira was called up byCarlos Queiroz , Portugal's National Team coach at the time (currently Portugal coach) to represent Portugal U-13 in a Mini World Cup Tournament inLisbon at the National Stadium. At the age of 15, Teixeira received the honours again to represent Portugal in a Tournament inViseu (Portugal ) including 4 teams,Cape Verde Islands ,Angola andMozambique .At only 16 years of age, he signed a contract with
Sport Lisboa e Benfica to play for the Juniors team under the management of ProfessorJose Morais . In August 1994, Teixeira moved to USA playing for Sommerville High School and helped the team reach the State Finals scoring 28 goals and 14 assists. Teixeira was named Greater Boston League MVP, Boston Herald Athlete of the Year and 1st Team ALL-American. Teixeira decided to attend Newbury College 1 year playing 18 games and finishing the season with 13 goals and 5 assists as a sweeper.Teixeira's professional career began when he signed a 4 year contract with
Rhode Island Stingrays of theUSL-2 . In 2002 Teixeira returned to Portugal on a loan to play for 2nd Division teamGD Sanjoanense returning to USA to finish the season withRhode Island Stingrays . In 2004 Teixeira signed a 4 year contract withNew Hampshire Phantoms ofUSL-2 where he helped the team reach the semi-finals in 2004 losing toCharlotte Eagles .Teixeira went on trial with parent club
Crystal Palace F.C. in August, 2008.
