Echo of Moscow ( _ru. Эхо Москвы, "Ekho Moskvy") is a Russian radio station based in Moscow, broadcasting in many Russian cities, in some of the former-Soviet republics (through partnerships with local radio stations), and via the Internet, presenting itself as "the last bastion of free media in Russia". The current senior editor is Alexei Venediktov.

Critics and controversy

Though being controlled by Gazprom Media, a subsidiary of Russian state-owned oil and gas giant Gazprom, editorial policy of Ekho Moskvy often referred to as utterly oppositional.

In September 2008 some Russian NGOs claimed that station's tendentious coverage of the conflict in South Ossetia has violated the 275 section of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (treasonable conduct).
