When interviewed for FSM magazine, director David Sinnott stated, “I don’t intend this film to be negative. Its too easy to sell people bad news.” cite web|title=FSM Article|publisher=FSM| url=http://www.fightingspiritmagazine.co.uk/images/memoirs.gif|accessdate=2007-06-20]
To date, the documentary also marks the first third party video interview from
Rob Van Dam since leavingWorld Wrestling Entertainment , and the first Western interview filmed of Keiji Mutoh since becoming president ofAll Japan Pro Wrestling . cite web|title=PWI Website (English translation from Hebrew)| url=http://www.pwi.co.il/news/show_article.php?ID=279]Production

In December 2005, a teaser trailer for the documentary was released as a cover mounted DVD for Fighting Spirit magazine under the projects then working title of “Sex and Violence.”
A blog on the films official website later stated that the documentaries concept on what the trailer was based on had changed. It is said that the original concept was to be a mixture of a work and a shoot, with one fictional, “dramatic” scene already filmed with ex WWE wrestler, and
ITV Celebrity Wrestling Coach,Joe Legend . cite web|title=Joe Legend Web Diary|url=http://www.legendwrestling.com/part_15_2006.html] No official reason for the change was made, but many suspect it was due to increasing fan interest in the actual interviews, rather than the drama.YouTube video
Magazine which adds cause to the debate that it was in fact a planted video. In time the video even made its way to the official website. cite web|title=Celeb-Link Website Video| url=http://www.celebrity-link.com/video50/5034_15619.html]

Release
David Sinnott, Executive Producer of documentary
Bloodstained Memoirs issued the following statement on 30/07/08 through the official Bloodstained Memoirs MySpace page."First of all, I want to say don’t be scared. Bloodstained Memoirs is still coming to the stores on DVD, and it will still have the highest production values.
However it is now appropriate to explain the reason for its continued delay, seeing as production wrapped several months ago. I had hoped not to write this, as I would have liked matters to have been taken care of as swiftly and efficiently as I had put them forward, but it was not be.
The bottom line is, I took the project to be edited at a firm in London called Online Post Production LTD, in Angel, London. A firm owned by Hilary Lawson, Vice Chair of the Forum for European Philosophy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. They delivered back to me a product that was abysmal, containing many faults. There was no way I would be accepting such a product to hand over to consumers, therefore I had no choice but to take them to court. Unfortunately, Online Post Production LTD made a mockery of the UK justice system by simply ignoring the courts. This can only go on for so long, and I have great faith that the legal system will soon catch up with them. As it stands now the case is still pending.
Bloodstained Memoirs will be taken to a new editing suite, and post production services will be carried out to the high standards I demand as soon as the above matters are wrapped up.
As the Executive Producer of Bloodstained Memoirs, I would personally like to apologise to all the fans for the delay. Believe me, it will be worth the wait."
