lake in theNetherlands between the southeastern part ofNorth Holland andFlevoland .There is a railroad bridge over the narrow west side of it, between
Weesp andAlmere Muziekwijk, with a parallel highway A6 bridge, the Hollandse Brug. The eastern side of the lake is crossed by highway A27 bridge, de Stichtse Brug.On the south bank of Gooimeer, which used to be part of
Lake IJssel , before the creation of new gained polderFlevoland , ancient cities likeNaarden andHuizen can be found. TheNaarderwoonbos , part ofNaarderbos , is build in the eighties. It is situated directly adjacent to the southern shore of the Gooimeer.Gooimeer is known for the crash of
El Al Flight 1862 , as the two right-hand side engines of theBoeing 747 fell into the lake, before the airplane continued on for 8 minutes, and crashing into an apartment complex.See also the map at
