In the spirit of
Mary Ward , Loreto schools aim to promote in their students intellectual development supported by Christian values. To fulfil these aims, particular emphasis is given to nurturing the virtus of gentleness, receptivity, compassion and reflection, as well as thosequalities held dear by Mary Ward: freedom of spirit, sincerity in communication, personal integrity a discriminationg attitude to truth and a cheerful disposition. It is envisaged that in becoming well-informed, self-directed, spiritually mature women, the students in their turn will be capable and willing to contribute to the building of a society characterised by Gospel values.
School Song
The school song for Loreto Coorparoo is the school hymn, and was written by Sister Deirdr Browne, a member of the
IBVM . The lyrics:
This is our boast, the Cross of Christ
This is the hope to which we're called
Freed to live a life of service
Freed to share in mankind's sufferings
Cruci dum spiro fido, cruci dum spiro fido
One in faith, bound into Christ
One in the love that sets us free
Called to work as His apostles
Called to be His holy people
Cruci dum spiro fido, cruci dum spiro fido
Nothing that exists, nor still to come
No power nor height nor depth, nor anyone
Can come between the love of God
Made visible in Christ our Lord
Cruci dum spiro fido, cruci dum spiro fido
Glory to Him - at work within us
Glory to God - forever more
Glory, honour, praise, thanksgiving
Be to our God for all generations
Cruci dum spiro fido, cruci dum spiro fidoHouses
