Prishtina Dam Festival

Prishtina Dam Festival

“International Festival of Young Musicians - DAM” is the first one of this kind that has been organized in Kosovo. Now it has become traditional. The first edition of the festival was held on April 2006 and had presented musicians from Kosovo, Italy, Germany, Albania and Slovenia. While in the second edition this festival grew as a remarkable event by bringing and presenting musicians from Ukraine, Egypt, Austria, Great Britain, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Kosovo. We should mention that up to this day we had many famous names and ensembles of classic music that also held workshops with Kosovar students. Among them was the well-known British violinist Petter Sheppard Skarved, composer Nigel Clarke, flautist Ines Abdeldayem, conductor Juliana Panova, pianist David Hales, accordionist Borut Zagoranski, and pianist Misbah Kaçamaku etc. We should note that as a result of undisputable artistic level of two previous editions, The Choir of Philharmonic-Opera of Kosovo leaded by Rafet Rudi expressed its wish to be part of the last evening in the second edition, although the audience wasn’t notified. This certainly honored the DAM Festival, considering that the abovementioned ensemble is the largest in the country. Except DAM Festival, the Center for Musical Art in collaboration with local artists on October 6th of last year held a memorial concert in remembrance of the legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti. This was the only commemoration that was held in Kosovo in respect to this figure and was held exactly one month after his death. As the whole civilized world did, so did The Center of Musical Art DAM.

3rd Prishtina Dam Festival took place from 25th-30th of March 2008. In this edition in the main stage of the festivali were presented musicians from Poland, Croatia, Macedonia, Albania And Switzerland. Special guest of the festival were musicians as Jan Pilch (percussionist), Mendi Mengjiqi (composer), Petrit Ceku (guitarist), Alexandre Dubach (violinist) etc.
