Mark B. McCracken, age 44, is a lifelong resident of Clearfield County, growing up in the village of Woodland approximately 6 miles east of the borough of Clearfield. His grandfather worked in the coal mines in Bradford Township and his father, a veteran of
World War II , worked for many years as a truck driver where he was a member of theTeamsters union. Mark graduated from Clearfield Area High School and the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center in 1981 and continued his education in information technology at the ICM School of Business inPittsburgh .Family
Mark’s immediate family includes his father Blair, older brothers Randy and his wife Ann, Tim and his wife Marsha along with 4 nephews, 4 nieces and 9 great nephews and nieces.
Political career
In 1993, McCracken was elected to the first of three terms on the
Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors. He was a candidate for school director in 1993, 1997, and 2001.McCracken finished first in a 4-candidate Democratic primary race for county commissioner and received the most votes in the November 2003 general election.
McCracken is the 2008 Democratic nominee for U.S. Representative from ushr|Pennsylvania|5. An open seat, he is running against Republican
Glenn "G.T." Thompson and Green Party Donald Wilson.References
