Sailendra Dwivedi

Sailendra Dwivedi (born April 24 1964 is an Indian writer)

The Tone of his Writing

The writer, though born in a town, had his grounding in a typical rural setup. His village, located on the banks of legendary(river) Chitrotpala had its own magic on him. Educational and professional compulsions have of course kept the writer largely alienated from his village, but he takes pride in his roots. The relationships, he claims were solidly built on his village soil. He thinks, a rural upbringing for any writer is richer than that of his urban counterpart, though both provide a myriad set of situations which shape the destiny of one’s writing. It is different matter, most of the villages in Orissa today have lost their souls in their pillion-ride to globalisation.Yet,he feels the fault does not lie with the village folk.An unresponsive system and the rising economic inequality need to be nailed down for the mess.

The latest economic survey by the Union Government of India has made it clear that at least 57% of Orissa's rural population manage with a meagre daily income of Rupees Twelve only ! We still call it a living !

Mr.Dwivedi writes mostly on burning issues of the day with a distinct socio-economic dimension. His undertones are anti-establishment.
