Mary Pallant was a Democratic candidate for the United States House of Representatives in California's 24th congressional district, for the Democratic nomination to face off against Republican incumbent, Elton Gallegly. The local primary election was held June 3, 2008. Elton Gallegly, Rep. was re-elected in November.

Biography
Pallant holds a B.A. and M.A. from Antioch University. She was a small business owner within the insurance industry. Pallant is a resident of Oak Park, California. She is married to Andrew Pallant and has two daughters.
Pallant is the founder and host of the Ventura County Speaker Series,[1] Ventura County, California. In addition, Pallant is the Chair of the Ventura County Commission for Women, Elected Delegate to the California Democratic Party 41st Assembly District, Member of the Organizational Development Committee of the California Democratic Party, and Trustee of the Community Foundation of Oak Park.[2]
Ventura County Speaker Series
Pallant is the founder and host of the Ventura County Speaker Series, which has brought notable speakers such as Gore Vidal,[3] Thom Hartmann,[4] John Rauh,[5] Scott Ritter[6] and Former Ambassador Joe Wilson[7] to the Ventura County, California community. The intent of the Speaker Series has been to bring notable political forces to the area to enrich the minds of local residents with a venue that is easily accessible to the community and free.
2008 Campaign for the House of Representatives
Mary Pallant is running for the 24th district California Congressional seat which is currently held by Republican Elton Gallegly.
Campaign platform
- Ending the occupation of Iraq.
- Reinvesting that money in U.S. infrastructure to address the U.S. economy, jobs, and schools.
- Single payer, publicly funding-privately run, Universal Health Care.
- Developing alternative energy and independence, including clean air and green collar jobs.[8]

Pallant's campaign has been endorsed by the California Nurses Association CNA Political Action Committee,[9] Progressive Democrats of America,[10] Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles, Santa Monica Mountains, and Ventura chapters, California Labor Federation AFL-CIO, the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace & Agricultural Implement Workers of America UAW, and the Calitics Editorial Board[11] as well as many individuals.[12]
Responsible Plan Endorsee
Pallant endorses the Responsible Plan[13] which includes the following actions:
- End U.S. military action in Iraq.
- Use U.S. diplomatic power.
- Address humanitarian concerns.
- Restore our Constitution.
- Restore our Military.
- Restore independence to the media.
- Create a new, U.S.-centered energy policy[14] and protections.[15]
