United States House of Representatives inCalifornia's 24th congressional district . She is a 2008 candidate running againstMary Pallant and Marta Jorgensen for the Democratic nomination to face off again incumbent RepublicanElton Gallegly . The primary will be held June 3rd, 2008. Martinez was unsuccessful in her 2006 race against Gallegly.A
Presbyterian minister, Martinez has worked for the Ventura County Area Housing Authority and taught professional ethics atCalifornia State University, Stanislaus and was co-host of the bi-lingual television program, "La Voz de la Raza" for ABC'sStockton, CA affiliate. In Stockton, she also worked as a City Civil Service Commissioner and a Police Chaplain.One of her major platforms has been addressing poor housing conditions on the
Central Coast of California . She has also expressed concern over health care, transportation, port security, theIraq War , andglobalization .Martinez holds a
