Banana Joe (film)

"Banana Joe" is an Italian-German action-comedy film from 1982 starring Bud Spencer.

Plot

Bud Spencer plays Banana Joe, a kind friendly man who delivers bananas to different ports in the African rainforest (hence the nickname). However when an officer finds that he is deleivering these bananas with out a license he is given the option of aqcuiring one legally or having his boat taken away and being arrested for illegal shipment. Joe travels to the city which to him is a new world as he grew up in the rainforest, he does not even know what money is and is amazed when someone tells him that a small piece of paper, from his point of view, can buy him a very impressive suit. Eventually Joe meets Dorianne, an attractive singer, in the bar where he gets his first job serving as security. After an incident invovling the singer's boss, Torsillo, in which Joe throws him out due to the fact he was 'mollesting' her, Joe finds himself in serious trouble. Dorianne takes him back to her apaprtment where he will be safe, for the time being. While he is there, Joe is infomred by Dorianne that he can acquire a license if he gets himself a birth certificate. But when he tries this it goes completely wrong and Joe is about ready to give up when one of the people working therer tips him off that if he serves in the army he will get a record proving that he served which counts as identification and he will be able to acquire his licence. After being in the army for only a week, Joe tries to get his documents, but the sargent informs him that in order to get his documents he will have to serve for eight months. Unable to wait that long, Joe runs away when he is on guard duty. He heads back to the home office try to get his licence using his uniform as proof that he served. Now the problem is that the man in charge is not up to the task of letting these people be served, as he is a greedy man. After learning of this Joe breaks into his office and makes himself an official document and licence but is soon arrested for breaching a resticted area. While in jail Joe learns that Doiranne's boss, Torsillo, is going to build a casino in an area where he lives; infuriated, Joe escapes from prison and back to his home. When returing home he finds that Torsillo has rounded up his friends and children along with Dorianne. After a long fist fight, Torsillo and his hench men surrender. Banana Joe is reunited with his loved ones and has a licence to carry on with his work and in addition found a new love.
