- Dashtestan
Dashtestan is a township in the northern part of
Bushehr Province ofIran . It is the largest of Bushehr's nine municipalities, the others are:Bushehr , Dashti,Dayyer ,Kangan ,Tangestan ,Genaveh ,Dai Jam andJam. It has gone by the name of
Shabankareh , and was the ancient city ofEij .In 2005, archaeologists discovered a fragmentary sculpture featuring the head of
Darius the Great (r.521 BC -485 BC ) and a servant carrying an umbrella behind him. It was unearthed at the Persian king's palace, known asBardak Siah Palace , which was discovered in1977 . An inscription was also recovered, with handwriting inNeo-Babylonian language.Dashtestan has three historical monuments that attract tourists:
Kooshk-E-Ardeshir ,Gour-E Dokhtar , andBardak Siah Palace.More than 20 palaces and halls from the
Achaemenid dynasty have been identified buried under thepalm trees of Dashtestan area.
