German submarine U-333

Unterseeboot 333 was a Type VIIC submarine of the Kriegsmarine. Her keel was laid down on March 11, 1940, by Nordseewerke of Emden, Germany. She was commissioned on August 25, 1941, with "Kapitänleutnant" Peter-Erich Cremer in command.

While in service, U-333 had five different commanders:
*"Korvettenkapitän" Peter-Erich Cremer (August 25, 1941 to October 6, 1942) and (May 18, 1943, to July 19, 1944)
*"Leutnant" Helmut Kandzior (October 6, 1942, to October 9, 1942)
*"Kapitänleutnant" Lorenz Kasch (October 9, 1942, to November 22, 1942)
*"Oberleutnant zur See" Werner Schwaff (November 22, 1942, to May 17, 1943)
*"Kapitänleutnant" Hans Fiedler (July 20, 1944, to July 31, 1944).

U-333 conducted 12 patrols, sinking 7 ships totalling 32,107 tons and damaging one other totalling 8,327 tons. On March 4, 1943 U-333 shot down an aircraft of RAF No. 172nd Squadron. On July 31, 1944, U-333 was sunk in the North Atlantic by "HMS Starling" and "HMS Loch Killin" with all hands on board.

U-333 bore the "three little fishes" emblem on its conning tower.
