Robert Brewton House, built in 1730, is the oldest dated "single" house in Charleston, South Carolina. A single house is one room wide, with the narrow end towards the street, the better to catch cool breezes.

It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960.citation|title=PDFlink| [http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Text/66000700.pdf National Register of Historic Places Inventory-Nomination: Robert Brewton House] |32 KB|date=February 15, 1977 |author=James Dillon |publisher=National Park Service and PDFlink| [http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NHLS/Photos/66000700.pdf "Accompanying 3 photos, exterior and interior, from 1969 and 1975"] |32 KB]
