The 1944 college football season saw the United States Military Academy (Army) and Ohio State University both finish unbeaten and untied, with records of 9-0-0. Of the top six votegetters in the final AP poll, which included "service teams" along with colleges, Ohio State was the only one not associated with the military service.
The final AP poll of sportswriters had Army voted #1 with 95 of the 121 first place votes, followed by #2 Ohio State, #3 Randolph Field #4 Navy #5 Bainbridge Naval Air Station and #6 Iowa Pre-Flight.
