The Archeparchy of Prešov ( _la. Archieparchia Presoviensis, until 2008 Eparchy of Prešov) is an
archeparchy of theSlovak Greek Catholic Church which covers the territory of thePrešov Region . It has the suffragans of:Eparchy of Košice andEparchy of Bratislava . The eparchy was erected on
22 September 1818 from the territory of theEparchy of Mukachevo . In 1996 the eparchy lost the territory in theCzech Republic to the newly establishedCzech Greek Catholic Church . In 1997 an apostolic exarchate of Košice (todayEparchy of Košice was created. The last changes occurred on 30 January 2008, when theEparchy of Bratislava was erected, losing territory of western and central Slovakia. At the same time it was elevated into metropolitan archeparchy.References
