Voutyro

Voutyro (also known as Vouturo, Voutiro, Boutyro, Bouturo or Boutiro) is a small village located 9 kilometers or 15 minutes South West of Karpenisi (also know as Karpenissi), the capital of Evritania. Elevation of Voutyro is 820m or 2,690.29 feet. Voutyro is know by UNESCO as one of the 5 most environmentally clean areas in the world. Postal code: 36100.

Voutyro is a traditional village of 150 residents or so, verdurous with fountains of cool spring mountain water, while it is located just 9km away from Karpenisi, the capital of the Prefecture of Evritania. Here in this captivating landscape you will also find the biggest stone church of Byzantine style of the prefecture, Agia Paraskevi. Agia Paraskevi is the biggest church made of stones in the Byzantine architectural design. The municipality of Karpenisi is an administrative part of the Prefecture of Evritania, which is a part of the region of Sterea Ellada. Evritania, with a total extent of 2047km2, borders on the Prefectures of Fthiotida, Karditsa and Etoloakarnania. It is a region with historical tradition and offer to the Greek Nation, with historical and archaeological sites, religious sites and amazing natural beauty. Namely, it offers all the elements needed so that all preferences of the visitors are satisfied, by offering calmness and rest, action and adventure.

Adventures such as white water rafting, trekking, kayaking, hiking, camping, rapelling and more can be found near the village of Voutyro for tourists and locals alike. A must see near Voutyro is the Panta Vrehei gorge, a little difficult to get to, but a must see.
