Wayne Township is a township located in Clinton County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,363.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 22.8 square miles (59.2 km²). 57.8 km²; (22.3 sq mi) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km²) of it is water. The total area is 2.28% water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there are 1,363 people, 477 households, and 353 families residing in the township. The population density is 23.6/km² (61.1/sq mi). There are 496 housing units at an average density of 8.6/km² (22.2/sq mi). The racial makeup of the township is 98.17% White, 1.32% African American, 0.15% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.29% from two or more races. 0.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 477 households out of which 27.0% have children under the ageof 18 living with them, 65.0% are married couples living together, 4.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% are non-families. 20.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 2.93.

In the township the population is spread out with 19.7% under the age of 18, 10.8% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 24.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who are 65 years of age or older.
