"Ursus americanus carlottae" is a morphologically distinct subspecies of the American Black Bear. The most significant morphological differences are its large size, massive cranium, and large molars. "U. a. carolttae" is a unique species since it can only be found on the Queen Charlotte Islands. [cite journal
