The alar fascia is layer of fascia, sometimes described as part of the prevertebral fascia, [ [http://iris3.med.tufts.edu/headneck/alarf.htm Untitled Document ] ] and sometimes as in front of it.

Anteriorly, it reaches the skull, and caudally, it reaches the second thoracic vertebra. [cite book |author=Kyung Won, PhD. Chung |title=Gross Anatomy (Board Review) |publisher=Lippincott Williams & Wilkins |location=Hagerstown, MD |year=2005 |pages=362 |isbn=0-7817-5309-0 |oclc= |doi=]
