Joe Frank Burns (born September 15, 1979 in Thomasville, Georgia) is an American football running back in the National Football League with the Buffalo Bills.

High school

Burns attended Thomas County Central High School in Georgia. He was a four-year letterwinner in football, and also won two varsity letters in track. In football, he rushed for 4547 yards and 56 touchdowns during his last two years of high school football, and as a senior, he was named the Georgia Player of the Year, and was an "USA Today" Honorable Mention All-USA selection.

College

Burns attended Georgia Tech and played for the Yellow Jackets. He was an All-Conference running back, and left as the fourth leading rusher in school history.Fact|date=August 2007
