Katunets ( _bg. Катунец) is a Bulgarian village in the Municipality of Ugarchin, northern Bulgaria. The village is around 23 km far from Lovech and 34 km from Pleven. Through Katunets flows the Katuneshka river, which flows from east to west and is long 43,5 km.

History

The first documentaried story of Katunets is from the Turkish registries in 1840. In a newspaper called "Stremlenie" from 25 February 1912 it's said that the population of the village is around 2 750 people. Katunets has soldiers from the Balkan War, the First World War and the second World war. In the year of 1914 the school is opened with record count of students-280. In 2006 an encyclopedia "Katunets, little encyclopedia" was released by Vyzo Bobenski and Petar Bobenski.
