Port of Keelung

The Port of Keelung (zh-tptwp|t=基隆港|hp=Jīlóng gǎng|tp=Jilóng Gǎng|w=Chi-lung-kang|poj=Ke-lâng-gāng), also refers to Keelung Harbor, located in the vicinity of Keelung City, Taiwan. It is operated by the Keelung Harbor Bureau of Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Republic of China.

History

The Treaties of Tianjin of 1860 specified Tamsui as an open port. The Port of Keelung opened the following year.In Japanese colonial period, Governor-General of Taiwan started the development of Keelung Harbor. By the early and middle 20th century, it was the largest port of Taiwan at the time.
