United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 11.0square mile s (28.5km² ), all of it land.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,359 people, 570 households, and 384 families residing in the township. Thepopulation density was 123.6 people per square mile (47.7/km²). There were 620 housing units at an average density of 56.4/sq mi (21.8/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.90% White, 0.37% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, and 0.22% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.81% of the population.There were 570 households out of which 24.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.4% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.6% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.89.
In the township the population was spread out with 20.1% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 22.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 88.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.4 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $32,083, and the median income for a family was $40,000. Males had a median income of $31,534 versus $26,157 for females. The
