Eagle Ridge Academy is a charter school located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Background

Eagle Ridge Academy was established in 2004.

Eagle Ridge features a classical curriculum and courses that an average high school would not have, such as Rhetoric, Logic, and Humanities. Rhetoric is the art of persuasion which was employed by the Ancient Greeks. Logic is the art of reasoning employed by classical philosophers. Humanities is the study and discussion of classical literature.

Extracurricular activities

School Musicals

The first production put on by Eagle Ridge Academy was "The Hope Diamond". A play written by a mother of one of the students and directed by the student herself. It was put on in 2005, the first year of the school's existence.

The first musical that Eagle Ridge Academy put on was "Into the Woods". The school orchestra played the majority of the music. The production was shown at Westwood Church. The director of this musical was former music teacher, Steve Wilder.

The second musical that Eagle Ridge Academy did was, "Bye Bye Birdie." This was a huge improvement. The production was a much higher quality with the Dean of Students, Erin Johnson, acting as director. All music was on a recording while the cast sung along to the instrumental versions.

The most recent musical put on was, "Guys and Dolls." Much like the previous year's performance, the production was a high quality performance, but this time it was a little more pressed for time. This year was also the last year for some the great seniors who provided a lot of the talent and took the main roles in the production. This year was also the first year in which students were given more responsibilities, such as stage manager.

Athletics

Eagle Ridge Academy and the International School of Minnesota, both small schools which are near each other, field joint sports teams. The team name is the Huskies.

Track and Field Team

Ben Robinson is the beast of the track team and holds many world records for various tosses and throws. Various things thrown by The Beast include discus and shot put.
