"Weekly Reader" is a weekly
education al classroommagazine designed forchildren in grades Pre-K–6. The editions cover curriculum themes in the younger grades and news-based, current events and curriculum themed-issues in the older grades. The publishing company also creates workbooks, literacy centers, and picture books for younger grades.In 2007, Weekly Reader Corporation became part of
The Reader's Digest Association , based inChappaqua , New York. Weekly Reader's main office was relocated from Stamford,Connecticut , to Chappaqua at the end of May 2007.The first edition of "Weekly Reader"—one for the fourth grade—appeared in September
1928 . Other editions were added later, and by1959 , there were editions forkindergarten through grade six. A pre-kindergarten edition was added in1980 .
