- Los Cadetes de Linares
Los Cadetes de Linares are famously know for their "
corridos ", ballad-style songs about famous criminals or heros in the rural frontier of the US-Mexico border. They are a "conjunto" -- also known as a "norteño" group -- and their accordion and "bajo sexto " waltzes are well-known in both Mexico and the Southwest. The founding members are from
Linares, Nuevo Leon ,Mexico .History & The Original Group
It is generally accepted that the group began performing in the early 1960s, and the group continues touring today. The group recorded with Ramex Records from 1972 to the early part of 1982.
- Homero Guerrero de la Cerda
- Alfredo Guerrero de la Cerda, first to leave the group due to injury.
- Adan Moreno
- Samuel Zapata, left the group due to family problems.
On February 19, 1982, Homero Guerrero dies in a car accident. In the road that goes from Monterrey to Reynosa, he crashed in a really bad curve, close to Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon.
The Group Splits
- Lupe Tijerina is considered a member of the group, but actually replaced founding members Alfredo Guerrero and Samuel Zapata.
Alfredo Guerrero restarted the group with son Alfredo Jr., but Lupe Tijerina had already inherited the group's name in Guerrero's absence. Alfredro Guerrero and Alfredo Guerrero Jr. began touring in Mexico and the U.S. Alfredo Guerrero made his recordings with discos Orquedia.
In the mean time, Tijerina was performing with Rosendo Cantú. In the 1990s, Cantú left Tijerina and his group, and was replaced by Chuy Vega. After Tijerina lost a singer, Cantú stepped in as a replacement. After being on tour, Cantú left Tijerina's group for good and started "Rosendo Cantú y sus Cadetes"
In 1995, Alfredo Guerrero signed a one-year contract with Zacatecas Records which is now known as Feria del Disco. Since 1995 to this date Alfredo Guerrero is still recording with this same Company.
As original members, only Guerrero and Tijerina are legally allowed to use the group's name, along with Homero Guerrero Jr. Despite their attempts at authenticity, the following continue using the name:
