Edward Worsfold Mowll (1881 - 1964) was the fourth
Bishop of Middleton [The Times , Monday, Aug 02, 1943; pg. 6; Issue 49613; col C E "New Bishop Suffragan Of Middleton"] . Educated atThe King’s School, Canterbury andJesus College, Cambridge , he wasordained in 1905 and after a curacy atLeyton becamesecretary of the "Church Pastoral-Aid Society". Incumbencies atBenwell ,Southport andOxford followed [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] before becoming Provost ofBradford Cathedral in 1933. Elevation to the Episcopate followed ten years later and he stayed in this, his final post, until retirement in 1951.
