Farringdon Platform was an intermediate station on the Meon Valley line which ran from Alton to Fareham during the 20th century. A goods yard for loading agricultural produce was already sited there, and in 1930 a short wooden platform of one coach-length was built to serve the village [“The Meon Valley Railway Revisited” Tillman, D: Stone,KRB,1983 ISBN 0954203542] . A particularly difficult line to construct [Oppitz, Leslie (1988). "Hampshire railways remembered". Newbury: Countryside. ISBN 1853060208.] the platform was used intermittently for goods traffic until the track was lifted in 1968 [ [http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/stations/d/droxford/index.shtml Lifting details] ] .
