- Seven Sleepers Day
In
Germany ,June 27 is "Siebenschläfertag" (Seven Sleepers Day). If it rains that day, the next seven weeks or the rest of summer is supposedly going to be rainy. While it might seem to refer to the "Siebenschläfer" squirrel (Glis Glis ), also known as the "edible dormouse", it actually commemorates theSeven Sleepers legend. Objections have been raised that the legend might came up before the Gregorian reform and as at this time the difference to theJulian calendar amounted to ten days,July 7 would be the actual Seven Sleepers Day. Based on this date the prediction has a slightly increased probability, confined to the southern parts of Germany not affected by thejet stream . [cite web
