Christian Tobin

Christian Tobin (born April 20, 1978 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, political activist and columnist. Tobin began performing in folk music clubs at the age of 16 thanks in part to the support of Toronto folk staple Norm Hacking. About the same time he began to take part in theatre working with the Blackhorse Village Players in Tottenham, Ontario.

Tobin has worked both as a solo act and as part of a band. In 1997 he teamed up with singer/musician Kai Koschmider to form the duo Tobin & Koschmider. The pair performed together exclusively until 2002. Tobin was the youngest performer to play the late Caledon Folk Festival in both 1996 and 1997 and has performed with the likes of Norm Hacking, Michael Peter Smith, Jackie Washington and more.

Tobin took a break from the music scene in November of 2006 to focus on other projects. He is now currently recording his second album entitled "King Street West" under the "Blue Raven Music" lable. Tobin is also a Hockey fan and writes a weekly column called "The Suitcase Report" at CrucialSports.com.

POLITICS

In the 2006 Toronto Municipal Election Tobin worked on the re-election campaign of Councillor Michael Walker, Ward 22 St. Paul's. Walker was reelected with nearly 80% of the vote.

Tobin is currently married and resides in Toronto.
