"The Shadow Government" ( _ar. رواية حكومة الظل) is the #1 bestseller Arabic novel of 2007, written by Saudi novel writer Monther Alkabbani. The shadow government was praised by many critics for its groundbreaking style in Arabic literature which was dubbed as the true first Arabic intellectual thriller. Monther Alkabbani has been nicknamed by readers as "the Dan Brown" of the Arab world.
