The American Consumer Institute Center for Citizen Research (ACI) is a 501(c)(3) (tax-exempt and fully tax deductible) nonprofit educational and research institute based in Reston, Virginia. The Institute claims to be an independent organization founded on a belief that consumer representations too often reflect either the interests of a small subsets of groups or mirror advocates’ political views based on subjective conclusions, rather than empirically-based analyses.

ACI released a study supportive of cable franchise reform. [http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/23/nyregion/nyregionspecial2/23licabl.html?_r=1&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin] The ACI also released a study opposing network neutrality.
