14 August 1979 inPlymouth ,England ) is an Englishrugby union footballer. His regular position is at hooker, and currently plays for Esher after being released by theLlanelli Scarlets at the end of the 2007–08 season. Then-Saracens manager, Mark Evans, was also interested in Hayter, but due to the number of hookers Saracens already had, Hayter stuck with Coventry. However, when Evans became chief executive/head coach at Harlequins in 2000, he contacted Hayter again and the move was made. 19 May 2003 , playing in the victory overLondon Wasps in the Zurich Premiership. Hayter played for Harlequins for another four years, before moving on toLlanelli Scarlets in July 2007. With first-choice hooker,Matthew Rees , with the Wales squad at the2007 Rugby World Cup , Hayter was given the opportunity to make the number 2 jersey at the Scarlets his own. However, with the arrival of
Mahonri Schwalger at the Llanelli region, Hayter was deemed surplus to requirements and was released by the Scarlets at the end of the 2007–08 season. He was subsequently signed by Esher ofNational Division One .
