The 2008 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers football team will represent Western Kentucky University during the 2008 college football season. The team's Head Coach is David Elson, who will begin his sixth season as the Hilltoppers' head coach with a 7-5 record since Western's move to DI-FBS prior to 2007, and a 37-22 overall record at WKU, including 2003-2006, when the Hilltoppers were in DI-FCS. WKU will be an Independent team in 2008, pending their move to the Sun Belt Conference in 2009. Prior to their move to the Bowl Subdivision, Western participated in the Gateway Football Conference of the Championship Subdivision. The Hilltoppers will play their home games in 2008 at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium in Bowling Green, Kentucky, which has been Western Kentucky football's "home" stadium since 1968.
