Carsten Smith

Carsten Smith

Carsten Smith (born July 13 1932 in Oslo) is a Norwegian judge and lawyer. He is a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Norway (1991–2002) and a professor of law at the University of Oslo.

Among his many published works is "Kausjonsrett". Carsten Smith was awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav on May 13 2003.

He is the husband of Lucy Smith, also a law professor and the former rector of the University of Oslo.
