François, comte de Clermont

HRH Prince François Henri Louis Marie d'Orléans, Comte de Clermont (born 7 February 1961), is dauphin, the eldest son of the Orleanist pretender to the French throne, Henri, comte de Paris, duc de France. François carries the name of his paternal uncle who died in battle in Algeria the previous year.

Both he and his younger sister, Blanche, are mentally disabled from congenital toxoplasmosis.

In accordance with his handicap, in 1962, his grandfather decided to remove François from the order of sucession in favor of his younger brother, Jean, duke of Vendôme. On 6 March 2003, François' father, Henri, reversed that decision if not the outcome, by leaving François as titular head but having Jean assume duties as heir apparent.

In 2006, the website of that Royal Family announced François was passed over in favour of his younger brother and Regent, Jean, duc de Vendôme.
