Childhood and youth

Was born March 20, 1962 at San Ignacio de las Misiones, Paraguay. Took his elementary studies at Paraguay, his high school studies at the Formosa province (Argentina), and his college studies at Buenos Aires, Argentina.

His first steps

He studied diverse branches of the plastic arts at the “Oscar R. Albertozzi” School of Fine Arts in Formosa, at the “Pridiliano Pueyrredón” School of Fine Arts and at the “Ernesto de la Cárcova” Superior School of Fine Arts. The last two were located in Buenos Aires.

Obtained the degrees of National Professor and Superior Professor of Painting.

The Argentine curator Jorge Gumier Maier talks about the artistic development of Feliciano Centurión: “Looking from every possible point of view, either formal and thematic, the foundational moment in his work is the replacement of the traditional support -fabric- for the blanket. The interaction between the stamp or the pattern of these and the images that in a very graphic mode were painted over them singularized his work. In a first phase, the alone or serious animals, domestic or strange (just like his octopus) directed to a really fantastic world, kind and heaven-like. Usually the blankets were of double size. Blankets that were reduced to smaller, more intimate sizes identify the next period. The images become more abstract and poetic. Now were flowers or stars, or flower-stars. Ñandutí carpets or macramé often replaced the paintings. In his third (and last) phase the same blankets give their place to handkerchiefs, pillows and pieces of bed sheets, on which he used to embroider phrases that were used as affirmations”.
