Gretchen Kirby is a leader in the field of
special education and autism intervention. She is a special education consultant in the state ofMassachusetts who has been working in the field ofspecial education for over 20 years.Education
Gretchen graduated from the
University of Vermont in 1992 with aMaster's degree inSpecial Education . Gretchen received aBachelor's degree in earlyeducation in 1989, also at theUniversity of Vermont .Career
Gretchen is the former Autism Specialist for the
Massachusetts Department of Education, as well as the overseer of a federally funded grant program. Gretchen also worked in the psychiatric and neurodevelopmental genetics unit atMassachusetts General Hospital as a Project Director forautism family studies. From 2000-2004, Gretchen served as the statewide autism consultant for theVermont Department of Education, in charge of statewide training and technical assistance. She currently works as a private autism consultant in the state ofMassachusetts , who provides training and technical assistance at the school district and individual team level. She works diligently to help children withautism spectrum disorders and their parents deal with the daily challenge that isautism .References
