"Yu Yu Hakusho: Spirit Detective" was released for the Game Boy Advance. The player controls characters Yusuke Urameshi, Kazuma Kuwabara, Kurama, Hiei, Botan and Kayko (Keiko in the anime). One must complete various objectives such as collecting items, completing mazes, and fighting enemies to move on. Boss battles are scattered through the game.

The player starts as Yusuke. The player must play through the game with the goal of reaching a boss called Kuwabara. After the battle, Yusuke is hit by a car and becomes a ghost. While Yusuke's spirit goes around, performing various wacky antics, Kayko watches over his body and even helps his spirit on his quest. After battling through enemies, the player can level up their characters and unlock special abilities. Eventually, the player is tasked with defeating clones of Suzaku and Rando, then Tarukane himself.

Additional game modes include tournament and arcade. Tournament mode is unlocked once the player defeats the story mode. In tournament mode, you play as Genkai and battle various bosses from the game. After tournament mode is completed, you unlock the arcade. In the arcade you can play diffent mini games from earlier in the game. It is the same arcade that appeared in episode 9 of the anime.

"Yu Yu Hakusho: Dark Tournament" was released for the PlayStation 2. The game is based on the Dark Tournament arc of the anime. You can choose between 25 characters and 8 destructible arenas to battle in.

Play as Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, or the Masked Fighter through the entire Dark Tournament Saga. You start off by learning the basic controls and how to fire your spirit attacks. Then you continue through the rest of the saga. A majority of it besides fighting is the actual anime episodes just scaled down a little. There are 31 Chapters total. There are also other game modes, such as Arcade, Token Game, Training, Survival, and Skirmish.

"YuYu Hakusho: Tournament Tactics"

"Yu Yu Hakusho: Tournament Tactics" was released for the Game Boy Advance. Unlike the original two, the game has largely a more strategic theme to the game. The player can choose 5 out of 10 warriors to battle 1 of 9 battlefields and experience the Dark Tournament Saga. Gameplay is based on a gameboard and the player may move 5 characters around and defeat the enemies. The majority of the combos and attacks are based on the anime.

There are four modes to the game. The first is "Destroy All Enemies", where the player's only goal is to destroy all enemies on the field. The second, "Pursuit", is a much easier mode, where the player must kill a certain demon (portrayed as a turtle in a jogging suit) before the demon reaches a certain space on the field. The third, "Timed Destination", has the player race one of their characters to a certain space on the field before time runs out. The final mode, "Floodgate", has a number of portals between the human and demon planes, called floodgates, that bring forth demons to attack the player, and the player must destroy both the floodgates and all demons they summon to win. There are also timed versions of the "Destroy All Enemies" and "Floodgate" modes.

"Yu Yu Hakusho final" was released for the Super Famicom system. As one can understand by the "Final" title, this is the last of the Yu Yu Hakusho games on the system, and based on the Saga of the Three Kings, though some characters from the Chapter Black Saga and from the movie appear. Not very innovative in the gameplay, this game follows the common features in many fighting games: four keys for weak and strong punch and kick, each character has of a pallet of special movements. As in many fighting games, the use of techniques requires energy, symbolized by a bar of ki, and which it is possible to reload during the combat by holding the attack buttons.

"Yu Yu Hakusho Final" is also modest in the playing modes ("Story", "Tournament", "Training", etc...). The Story mode starts from the end of the Black Chapter Saga, through the Saga of the Three Kings to a final bout with the main enemy of the movie (with exception of Kuwabara's story, which ends abruptly after two bouts).
