In July 1972 she began a relationship with the recently separated
Elvis Presley and immediately moved in with him atGraceland . They lived together for four and a half years. Thompson claims to have saved Elvis' life many times, but eventually decided to leave him when she knew he was going to die. She was portrayed by actressStephanie Zimbalist , oppositeDon Johnson as Elvis, in the 1981 television movie, "Elvis and the Beauty Queen ".TV career
A few months after her breakup with Elvis in December 1976, she signed on as a regular on the TV series "

She began writing lyrics for some of David Foster's compositions, notably the song "No Explanation" for the 1990 film, "

She was active with her husband in
humanitarian causes in the David Foster Foundation Society. In 2005, the Fosters aired areality television show called "The Princes of Malibu " based on Linda's slacker sons and how Foster had to deal with them.
