"Adagio" is the fourth album of Sweetbox and the third album with Jade Villalon as frontwoman. It was released in 2004. There are two different versions of the album. One was released in Japan and the other was released in Europe, Korea and Taiwan. "Adagio" debuted at #3 in Japan.

Adagio sees new sounds of music that were left out of Sweetbox when Tina Harris left, like R&B, Rap, and Hip-Hop, although it keeps the pop and dance sound which Sweetbox are famous for, with guest vocalist RJ bringing rap to many songs on the album. Also, Adagio may be the most classically influenced album, with almost every song sampling a classical piece. Lyrically, this album is Jade's deepest yet, taking on themes of depression and suicide. There are also a handful of more bright, 'Life Is Cool' songs in the album as reminders to keep trying and enjoy life.

The songs "1000 Words" and "real Emotion" were recorded for the console game "Final Fantasy X-2".The song called "Lacrimosa", meaning 'tearful' in Italian, is musically based on Mozart's 'Lacrimosa' from his unfinished Requiem in D Minor, which he died while writing. The song "Chyna Girl" refers to the porcelain china, whereas saying the girl in the song is delicate, much like porcelain, not meaning the country of China. Mandopop group S.H.E had originally released "Super Star", a song with the same music, in August 2003. Retrieved January 25, 2007.] "Chyna Girl" was then covered by Skye Sweetnam. The chorus in the demo version of the song "Liberty", featured in the Raw Treasures album, has a girl named Adriana's name in it, asking why she gave up her life and committed suicide. This chorus's lyrics were cut and changed for the final version of "Liberty".
