December 14 ,1976 inPampa, Texas , U.S.A) and is a Hawaii-based bail bondsman and bounty hunter. Leland Chapman is well known for appearing on the television showDog the Bounty Hunter with his father, Duane "Dog" Chapman. Leland is Dog's third son, and he helped captureMax Factor 's heir,Andrew Luster with Dog andTim Chapman .History
Leland's mother is Lafonda Darnell. While his father was incarcerated, Leland's parents divorced. Leland did not see his father again until he was eight years old.
During his early teenage years, Leland lived in
Denver, Colorado , where he was involved in the gang culture. In the 1990s he and the rest of his family moved to Hawaii. His grandparents Barbara Chapman and Wesley Chapman later joined the family and opened up a bail bonds office on the Big Island of Hawaii. He was arrested at age 17 for mugging a tourist, according to the Stone article.At age 21, Leland started his own bail bonds company, "Da Kine Bail Bonds," in

Leland has two sons, Dakota and Cobie. He divorced their mother, Maui, in 2005. Until 2003 he divided his time between his bail bonds business and competing in
boxing ,kickboxing , andmixed martial arts . Due to injuries, he spends his spare time supporting local competitions, coaching mixed martial arts, and running a local gym.Leland enjoys
spearfishing in the ocean. He was also a track star in high school. See page 24 ]Recently at The Fox Reality Channel's Really Awards while walking the red carpet with his father, Duane Chapman, and wife Beth Chapman, he was pictured with a mystery women on his arm. She looks to be Hawaiian but there was not a clear shot of her. On the September 24, 2008, it was reported by the LA Eater that both Leland and his "Girlfriend" had lunch with his father and Beth at BLT a resturant in LA.

September 14 ,2006 , Leland Chapman, Duane "Dog" Chapman, andTim Chapman were arrested inHawaii on charges concerning their involvement in the arrest of fugitiveAndrew Luster . They were charged with illegal detention and conspiracy in an alleged kidnapping inPuerto Vallarta ,Jalisco State,Mexico . They were held overnight in federal custody and released onSeptember 15 , 2006 on bond pending extradition proceedings. If extradited by the U.S. and convicted in Mexico, they would have faced six months to four years in a Mexican jail.Fact|date=April 2007On
September 15 ,2006 , Leland Chapman andTim Chapman were released on $100,000 bail, while Duane was released on a $300,000 bail. All three bounty hunters were ordered to house arrest. All three had to wear an electronic tracking device and were ordered to give up their passports. At the end of their sentence the tracking devices were removed and the men were given permission to change their bail requirements so they could continue to run their bail bonds business.On
February 16 ,2007 , the second district court inGuadalajara denied a request for an injunction preventing extradition. The court ruled that Duane, Leland and Tim should face trial on one count of "deprivation of liberty" in violation of the country's anti-bounty-hunting statutes.Mexico reviewed Dog's case to see if they did have grounds to extradite him on a misdemeanor. There were multiple legal defense funds set up for Duane, Leland, and Tim including one set up by Tanja "Doe", a victim of Andrew Luster.On
August 1 ,2007 All charges against the three bounty hunters were dropped.In October 2007, the Chapmans were told that the three bounty hunters would not be extradited to Mexico by American authorities.
