Rural Radio Network (having replaced the station now known asWYXL ) and signed onJune 6 ,1948 as WVFC. WVFC (later WEIV) served as flagship of the network from 1948 to 1981, when the network split up. On1982-12-21 , the station changed its call sign to the current WQNY.
