- Lana Coc-Kroft
Lana Coc-Kroft is a New Zealand television and radio personality, and was Miss Universe New Zealand in 1988.
Lana began her television career in 1991 on the New Zealand version of Wheel of Fortune as the co-host with Phillip Leishman. Lana continued in this role until the show was axed in 1996. In 1994 she changed image by fronting the extreme sports show On The Edge for 5 years. The show had Lana, among other things, diving with sharks, parashuting, caving and extreme rafting in NZ and around the world. During this time she hosted Zm breakfast radio with Marcus Lush but moved out of this role when she started a family.
In the late nineties Coc-Kroft was on radio on Auckland's 91ZM as a co-host of "The Lip Stick Lunch" with announcer
Nicki Sunderland , this show was networked across all of New Zealand in 2000. Unfortunately the show did not rate well despite winning an award at the New Zealand Radio Awards in 2002 and as a result was axed. Over the next few years Coc-Kroft hosted a series of shows and documentaries including Can You Hackett, Make or Break, On the Road, Test the Nation and Celebrity Treasure Island. In 2004 while filming Treasure Island in Fiji fell ill with the near fatal disease, Strep A - Toxic Shock Syndrome. Lana spent 14 days in a coma and 5 weeks in critical care. After months in rehab she has made an almost complete recovery.Coc-Kroft appeared in various New Zealand television advertisements, the most notable was one called "If You Wanna Make Em Smile Say Cheese" where Coc-Kroft made the infamous statement "Is there an A in that?" Another advertisement was in 2003 advertising to switch off your microwave as the clock consumes a large amount of power, this was during the 2003 Power Crisis. She has been national ambassador for high profile campaigns World Vision, Persil Dirt is Good and Healtheries, fronting campaigns and being spokes person.
Lana is in high demand as an M.C. and after dinner speaker.
For the last decade Coc-Kroft was part of the
SportsCafe TV show. SportsCafe was axed at the end of 2005. In July 2008 SportsCafe came back on the air with Coc-Kroft once again part of the show.
