Stephen Edwin Caffrey (born September 27 1959, Cleveland, Ohio) is an American television, film and stage actor. He is the fifth of seven children born to an Irish-American family in Cleveland. His year of birth has been mistakenly cited as 1961, but he is two years older.

At the age of 17 he and his family permanently settled in city-state|Chicago|Illinois. Pursuing acting after graduation, he and a close knit group of acting friends founded the Immediate Theatre in Chicago.

Television roles

He has appeared on such TV series as "", "Touched by an Angel", "Judging Amy", "Providence", "Profiler", "The Practice", "Seinfeld", "Chicago Hope", "Murder, She Wrote", "Columbo", "Diagnosis Murder".

His longest stints, for which he is best-known are as Lt. Myron Goldman on "Tour of Duty" and "All My Children" as "Andrew Preston Cortlandt".

Film roles

He appeared in such films as the AIDS drama "Longtime Companion" (1990), "The Babe" (1992; starring John Goodman) and "Blowback" (2000; with Mario Van Peebles).

tage roles

In 2004 he appeared as Torvald in a production of "A Doll's House" and in David Mamet's play "Oleanna" two years later. He has performed regularly at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, California.
